Every piece is designed to sit next to something you already own. That is why the shapes repeat but the metals do not, and why nothing is sold as a set unless it genuinely works as one.
Made in small runs.
Most designs are cut in runs of a dozen or fewer. When a stone is gone it is gone, and the next version of that piece will be a little different by necessity.
Built to be repaired.
Prongs, clasps and chains are chosen so a jeweler can work on them in twenty years. Cleaning and tightening stay free for as long as you own the piece.
